How do you like them apples Lebowski?

I've been an avid bowler for years. It was the popular weekend night activity to do back in high school, and the only entertainment available after midnight when I got off swing shift from my warehouse job back in college. Over the years my skill has improved and seasoned. In the last couple years I've been paying close attention to my throw style and working on fine tuning it. It's become apparent that I am over due for a new ball. My old hand-me-down ball was a 12lb Ebonite Maxim IV, that had tons of plugs, didn't fit my hand properly, and in desperate need of resurfacing.

So I finally made a conscious effort to go to the pro shop on Wed and get a new ball. After doing some research online and talking with the pro shop guys, I settled on a mid ranged ball: a 14lb. Brunswick BVP Rampage w/finger tip inserts. This ball would be a stepping point to help me rework my throw style. After 30 mins of measuring my hand, fingers, grip style, etc the shop had all the specs necessary to drill it for me.

I picked the ball up last night and immediately put it to use on a few practice games. The new ball felt strange, and took a bit of practice. My first few games where horrid, with lots of gutters. I eventually found the lines and my game took off. One of the first things I noticed was my new ability to clear the #10 pin on the first throw. Something that had been plaguing my games for years. Normally I would clear pins #1-9 on my first throw, and pick up the #10 pin on 2nd for a spare (quite difficult for a left curving hook). Finally the curse had been lifted. I threw progressively higher scores with the new ball. Most impressively was closing out the 10th frame of my 4th game with three strikes, and then starting off the 5th game with five strikes. Making an eight strike run. I can't wait to get more practice in and see what I can do once I'm comfortable with the new ball.

Of course I couldn't buy a new ball all by itself, I ordered a new Brunswick Flash Player Series, 2 Ball Roller Bag, and some fashionable Brunswick Throttle bowling shoes.
